Music In R Schools, Inc. a California Nonprofit Corporation is organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law with the specific purpose to provide funds for donation to the music programs at schools and to provide music instructors, instruction and/or funds for the employment of music instructors in schools.

 Music In R Schools, Inc. partners with local school districts, music booster clubs, parents and other organizations to foster the purpose as stated above.

Donald A. Nunn, Attorney At Law

Mr. Nunn is an Attorney at Law, licensed to practice in the State of California since 1972.  He has been a resident of Poway since 1978. Mr. Nunn’s three children attended schools in the Poway Unified School District with his youngest child presently attending Poway High School.  Mr. Nunn specializes in Corporate, general business and personal injury law.  He has served as a Pro Tem Judge in the Courts of San Diego County by appointment of the Presiding Judge.  He was President of the Poway Chamber of Commerce for two years (1987 and 1988).  He was the Director of the annual Poway Days events in 1989.  Mr. Nunn has served on the Redevelopment Agency Advisory Committee for the City of Poway.  Mr. Nunn is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara and the University of San Diego School of Law.  In addition to his full time legal practice, he taught Business Law at Mesa Junior College for several years.

Karol Quiring, CPA

Ms. Quiring has been in practice in the Rancho Bernardo area since 1985.  In addition to an MBA from National University, she holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Northwestern University.  All three of her children attended schools in the Poway Unified School District.  Ms Quiring has been active in the North County Foster Parent Association, Treasurer of LeTip San Diego North, and has been on the church council of Penasquitos Lutheran Church for several years.

John Bertrand, MS

Mr. Bertrand has both a BS in Music and MS in Music Education from Illinois State University. He taught instrumental and vocal music for 15 years in Illinois, California and most recently in the Poway School District.  In 1983 he founded Bertrand’s Music in San Bernardino and expanded to Rancho Penasquitos in 1997.  Mr. Bertrand has provided Free Summer Music Instruction to over 500 fifth grade students each summer as part of the HeadStart Music Program for the last 11 years. His two youngest sons both graduated from Mt. Carmel High School.

Rita Donahue, MS

Ms Donahue has a B.S. in Music from Northern State University and a MS in Curriculum from USIU. She is currently retired from the Poway Unified School District after 33 years of service.  She is the founding teacher responsible for the development, implementation and growth of the elementary music program in Poway.  She was a PUSD mentor teacher from 1982 to 1986 and was named the outstanding teacher of the year at Painted Rock Elementary School in 1990.
